Abstract

As a result of the commemoration of the 75 years since the Allie Forces’ victory over the Nazis and the end of World War II, this essay covers the relation between the involvement of civilians in the conflict and the establishment of what has been called Human Rights in the post-war. The analysis discourses about two central aspects, which are: how the confront impacts civilians’ daily life into the countries implicated; and how the experience of the Holocaust and the living limit-situations guide us to the guarantees of freedom and dignity of the human person. With this in mind, the work mobilizes, based on a comparative methodology, debates on aspects of European Modernity, on the nature of World War II, and the concept of Human Rights. In the end, this essay should, beyond the reflection on the proposed relationship, allow us to evaluate the panorama of this derived and the field of action of Human Rights today.
